Remember this fabric? I bought it with a project in mind. But most of all I wanted to play. So I played with a notion that is hardly for sale, but great to make.
Necessary:
-2 6"*6" mirror tiles (15*15cm metric)
-6"/15 cm Duck tape
Stack the tiles, mirror sides together. Duck tape on the side to stick them together, so you can fold them open like a book. Done. Wasn't that difficult? ;-)
Now you can start to play. And I did too.
You're warned, this post is full of pictures of tiny eye candy, playing with the same fabric. Hehe!
Here are my results with the fabric I bought Saturday, and some fabrics that I bought a few weeks ago. Playing with angle and position give the greatest results!
Here with some other fabric.

Then this fabric:
And the last fabric.
4 Pieces of fabric and all this available with just 2 mirrors and a piece of duck tape. Who needs a fabric stash when you can have this!?
Sorry for the crazy amount of pictures. I just had to.
Have fun quilting and playing!

I love the effects that can be achieved with this. I challenged myself once to see how many kaleidoscope hexagon rosettes I could get from a metre of fabric. I managed 25 , wished I had more. The piece remains unfinished because I keep searching for more fabric to make the border. I wonder what you will do with your fabulous fabrics.
ReplyDeleteHier word je bijna duizelig van........
ReplyDeleteI remember playing with mirrors and great fabric like that. I've had a blast from the past. I love the last fabric.
ReplyDeleteWonderful fun! I have a double mirror that I've used for years to make hexagons and stars. It is a great tool - that and cut-out cardboard viewing templates.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great pictures :)

Het werken met die spiegeltjes (Kaleidoscoop) is erg leuk, je ontdekt steeds weer wat nieuws in je stof. Leuk!
