Start of everything normal and the Hutzler 571B

Isn't it strange? That after a month of festivities, food, champagne and Christmas trees, the mind is longing for normal. The tree is out the door, the angels in their boxes till next year, and the lights are out. Normal work, normal bedtime, normal everything. Back to work, waking up at 5AM, coming home late and eating  normal food. Well there are some leftovers, still, but fairly normal. And back in the good food/running mode. So I started over with running, now my Achilles tendon seems to be also back to normal. It was great being out again! This year I will make my 10k.

My white-on-white is nearly finished, this week it will be done. Hand quilting goes in my own pace, and I love it!

My Quilt Mom has a quilt top ready on her frame (a Jasmine Heirloom too) and will start soon, when her thread arrives. She is quilting with Mettler Silk Finish, a brand I love to hand quilt with. Now we are both in a hand quilting stage, I hope I can keep up with her and finish my Broken Star too!

And then I have to show you something, totally off topic, but I haven't laughed that hard since long. On Amazon there is an amazing amount of reviews on a kitchen apparel that could have been from Sky Mall: a banana slicer, to be precise, the Hutzler 571B Banana Slicer. Check out the capitals and the product number. As if there ever was a 570, let alone a 571A?!!! And a banana is of course the most difficult thing to slice.

It seems more people are thinking the same. Now read the reviews. Almost 1600 reviews with the funniest remarks about the use of this thing, like "My bananas were left bended and couldn't be cut with the Hutzler 571B, because it's right bended" and "It needs a firmware update as the USB cable can not connect". Loved this a lot!

Hope you have a good laugh, and have fun quilting!
